Remember The Uniform Project ? Sheena Matheiken wore the same little black dress for a whole year to raise money for the Akanksha Foundation, which focuses on education for Indian children. Thanks to Sheena’s efforts and that little black dress, the Uniform Project raised over $100,000 and put 273 children into school! Now, the project is back for its second iteration

Don’t you just love playing with Flickr ? I was clicking around the other day and stumbled across this awesome house made from something I’d never heard of before: cob! This house isn’t made of corn cobs but of a mixture of clay, straw, and sand. Cob is sort of like the mixture used to build adobe homes, and it’s super resilient! Structures made of cob can last hundreds of years

In a world of fast fashion styles change with the season, and it’s pretty tempting to hit up Forever 21 or H&M for cheap, made in China versions of the latest trends. The problem there is that keeping up with what’s in style often means supporting sweat shop labor only to purchase cheap garments that fall apart after a dozen washes (if you’re lucky!). This adds up to tons of waste every year

Store bought fragrances can be pretty nasty stuff. Environmental Working Group (EWG) tested 17 popular perfumes and colognes and reported an average of 14 mystery chemicals , with some brands containing as many as 24! Thanks to a legal loophole, fragrance companies don’t have to disclose what is in their recipes. Meanwhile, 66% of the chemicals that EWG found are not tested for safety
